My Story

April Luckett-Fahimi has served with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office for over 23 years, with experience in patrol, community policing, internal affairs, planning, and corrections. She was appointed Undersheriff by Sheriff Yesenia Sanchez in January 2024. She previously led the External Affairs & Strategic Initiatives unit, advancing the Sheriff's Transition Plan and overseeing communications, public engagement, and legislative efforts. At Santa Rita Jail, she served as Compliance Captain, helping implement a federal consent decree and manage the COVID-19 response, and as Commanding Officer overseeing staff and incarcerated populations.
A strong advocate for women in law enforcement, she has held leadership roles with the California Police Chiefs Association and continues mentoring through the WLLE Foundation. She is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute and the FBI National Academy, and an active member of Black Women for Political Action (BWOPA), the National Organization for Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), The Curve, and was the past Chair of the Commission on the Status of Women in Alameda County.
